Don’t Ditch Your Resolution

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Incredible Egg, but all opinions are my own.

Back in December, the Incredible Egg and myself discussed how to revolutionize your New Year’s resolutions with realistic nutrition goals. One of the goals that I proposed for the new year is to include protein, such as eggs, in your mid-afternoon snack. Adding protein in the afternoon can help control your hunger and avoid overeating at dinner time. The reason for this is, out of all of the macronutrients: carbohydrates, fat and protein, protein is the most satiating. This means that it’s the nutrient that keeps you feeling fuller the longest.

One of my nutrition clients named Chloe, adopted this advice for her own new year’s resolution and has been incorporating more protein into her afternoon snacks. Since then, she’s been successfully controlling her hunger. Hear how adding eggs to Chloe’s mid-afternoon snacks has made a positive difference:

“So, I heard Manuel suggest that adding eggs to my mid-morning snacks will help control my hunger. I took his advice and noticed that I now have better control of my portion sizes during dinner time. My favorite snack is the scrambled egg and avocado wrap. It’s so easy to make, and I can pack it along with my lunches.”

Just like Chloe, several of my clients have implemented this small but mighty change and have shared positive feedback with me. How are you doing with your personal goal setting? In case you missed it last month, here’s a quick reminder on how to make a realistic goal: remember to develop a step by step plan and make goals that are realistic and quantifiable. To achieve your larger goals, start small and make gradual progress to reach them to give yourself a better chance of success and feeling of accomplishment.

If controlling your hunger and losing weight is one of your goals, I recommend adding eggs to your diet, because they are a nutrition powerhouse, with one large egg containing 6 grams of high-quality protein and nine essential amino acids, all for 70 calories. Like Chloe, who chose a wrap as a snack, you can get creative with your egg snacks!
