As a registered dietitian nutritionist with the grocery store Safeway, I have partnered with California Figs for different ways to enjoy this delicious fruit. Figs are somewhat of a forgotten fruit, but are very nutritious. They contain the most calcium, iron and potassium of any other common fruit. Also, three to five California figs provide 5 grams of soluble fiber which is a prebiotic fiber that helps the growth of good bacteria. This good bacteria promotes a healthy gut which makes for a healthier you.
